After choosing Science, the next decision is your fourth subject: Biology (PCMB) or Computer Science (PCMC). Here is an honest comparison.
PCMB โ the all-rounder
- Eligible for NEET (MBBS/BDS/AYUSH), KCET engineering AND agriculture/veterinary/pharmacy quotas, plus JEE.
- Best if there is any chance you will try for medical or allied-health seats.
- Heavier workload โ Biology adds substantial theory alongside Maths problem practice.
PCMC โ the focused engineer's path
- Eligible for KCET engineering, JEE, ComedK and all computer-science degrees.
- Noticeably less memorisation pressure; more time for Maths and Physics problem practice.
- Not eligible for NEET or medical/para-medical seats.
How to decide in 3 questions
- Could you ever want MBBS/BAMS/veterinary/agriculture? If yes or even maybe โ take PCMB.
- Are you sure about engineering/IT? PCMC gives you a lighter, sharper path.
- How is your memory vs problem-solving? Biology rewards disciplined memorisation; Computer Science rewards logic.
What we see at our college
At Vidyavaridhi Independent PU College we run both combinations with the same weekly-test system. NEET aspirants write 720-mark pattern tests, engineering aspirants write 180-mark KCET pattern tests โ every single week, with ranks in 2 hours. Whichever you choose, choose a system that tests you constantly.
